A little bit real, a little bit imaginary

Maxine McDonald was my grandmother's name, but no one ever called her that. I never got to meet her. After surviving a heart attack in her 50s, she told her children, "I taught you how to live. Now I'm going to teach you how to die." Then she packed up and flew away to be a short-term missionary. She died a year later in a country that doesn't technically exist anymore.
